REDBELLYBLACK Production & Media
HI I’M DAVID
Photographer / Videographer, Broadcast Engineer, Producer, Director, Cameraman
Hi I’m David and I run REDBELLYBLACK. As a kid I was interested in film photography, 8ml film, electronics and science. In the early 80’s at 16 I bought my first 35mm camera and joined the Navy to do electronics. I have always been technically minded and started teaching myself electroncs at 11 years.
After the Navy I was interested in working in radio and television, so I did. Triple J then Channel Ten then Channel Nine. I leanrt audio Production, then studio electronics then worked in the edit suite and news eng areas. After this I ended up doing Audio Visual installation starting as an installer then working up to project manager, designer and programmer. By the end of the 90’s I got fed up with working for others and started my first business. By then I was a profession photo journalist, broadcast engineer and videographer.
In the new millenium I was photographing and videoing all over the place, I was doing a radio show each week, and freelancing in the audio visual industry in the Sydney Convention Centre and for other Audio Visual companies. in 2005 I joined Foxtel as a system engineer for 5 years while still doing photography/videography in my spare time. After foxtel I went to Corporate Technology Services and started their video production department, capturing, directing, editing and producing corporate video.
After this I ended up closer to home at Abottsleigh School looking after the schools audio visual requirements, their photography and video studios and helping teachers and students to learn. After this it was back to my Business again as well as continuing as an AV freelancer.
I love production whether it is live work, or prerecorded work. I love editing, still love my photography and my journalism. more importantly I love getting involved with producing online shows and working with people to do their best in production.
